George Jeacock delighted to have first team chance with the U's
Young striker George Jeacock has made the step up from the youth team to sign his first professional contract with Oxford United.
George, 18, has been with the club since the under 8’s and had loan spells at Farnborough and Didcot Town last season. Able to play up front or on either wing, George, from Bicester, was top scorer for the under 18 side last season, earning him the chance to turn pro with his local club.
He told us
“It’s a dream come true and something I have worked hard for. A lot of people have helped me along the way and I’m grateful to all the coaches, and people who have offered advice, especially Andy Whing and Leon Blackmore-Such last season.
“I will work hard through the summer so I am ready to come back in pre-season and try and make the most of what I know is a fantastic opportunity.”
Head Coach Michael Appleton said:
“He is very raw and there is plenty for him to work on but he has a good attitude, he has pace and an eye for goal. He has impressed us when he has trained with the first team and played in under 21 games so he is another very promising young player who we look forward to working with next season.”
