Crowds turn out to celebrate promotion
The city of Oxford came out to salute Oxford United this afternoon as big crowds defied the weather to salute the newly promoted U’s.
Hundreds of fans lined Broad Street and then a route around the city centre as the players celebrated a remarkable season that has seen them reach Wembley and then win promotion to League One.
A civic reception was then held at the Town Hall where Chairman Darryl Eales said
“It has been an amazing season and capped today by seeing so many people come out and stand in the rain to cheer the players and celebrate promotion.
“From the first week in Austria right through to today it has been an amazing experience and this is the perfect way to end the season and look towards the next, where we will kick off as a League One side.”
Our thanks to everyone who came out to cheer the team today. See you next season
