United snap up new right-back
Oxford United have further strengthened their squad for the new season with the signing of Welsh international right-back Christian Ribeiro on a two year deal.
The 26-year-old made 39 appearances for Exeter City last season, scoring four times. After earning his first professional deal at Bristol City he was part of the Scunthorpe side that won promotion from League 2 in 2014 before moving to St James Park Exeter. In total he has made close to 200 career appearances, and can also play at centre half. He has two full caps for Wales.
Head Coach Michael Appleton said
“He is someone who has always impressed us. He is powerful, a good athlete and has plenty of experience for someone his age so we think he will do very well for us. I know a number of clubs were monitoring his situation so we are delighted that he will be with us and part of what we hope will be a successful season back in League 1.”
Christian said
“ It’s an exciting move for me. I saw for myself last season what a good team it is here at Oxford and it represents a great new challenge. I can’t wait to get back for pre-season and get started now.”
