Full squad in action as United start pre-season
Oxford United were back in the familiar routine today as pre-season started in full.
After two days of testing with the help of Brookes University, the full squad reported to Bisham Abbey this morning to go through their paces under the watchful eye of Michael Appleton and his backroom team.
There was a full squad available with no injury worries. Both Joe Skarz and Ryan Taylor looked very sharp after making full recoveries from the groin injuries that troubled them towards the end of last season while new signings Wes Thomas, Aaron Martin, Christian Ribeiro and Simon Eastwood all took a full part in the session.
First year pros Jack Stevens, George Jeacock and Miles Welch-Hayes were all involved for the first time as a warm up session was followed by the first full training session of the summer.
Head Coach Michael Appleton told us:
“It’s good to have everyone back and fully fit. The results from the testing over the last couple of days were very encouraging and now the hard work really starts. I’m not sure if any players really enjoy pre-season but the hard work is really important to set them up for the season ahead.”
