Striker Kane signs for the U's
Oxford United have added to their striking options with the signing of Dundee striker Kane Hemmings for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.
The 24-year-old forward began as a youngster with Tamworth before moving north to Rangers as an 18-year-old. After a successful loan spell at Cowdenbeath he made the move permanent, scoring 22 times in 38 appearances before spending a season at Barnsley, scoring five times. However it was last season at Dundee that Hemmings really stood out, netting 21 goals in 37 games in the Scottish Premiership and 28 in all competitions.
That form saw a host of scouts monitoring his progress and Oxford Head Coach Michael Appleton was pleased to welcome Kane to the Kassam Stadium:
“He is the proven goalscorer that we’ve talked about and he enjoyed a fantastic season last year. There were a few clubs looking at him but we have talked to him, told him what we are about down here in Oxford and we are delighted to welcome him to the club.
“Credit to the Chairman and the board who have backed the deal and allowed us to bring Kane in. It adds to our attacking options and hopefully there are one or two more new faces still on the horizon before the start of the season.”
