Youngsters to join Oxford City and Southport on loan
Two of Oxford United’s talented youngsters are to go out on loan to gain further experience.
Striker James Roberts has joined Oxford City on a month’s loan while winger Jonny Giles has joined Southport on a similar deal. Roberts enjoyed a successful loan spell at Chester earlier in the season while Giles will experience competitive football for the first time since signing pro terms for the club earlier in the season. He will join up with goalkeeper Max Crocombe who is on loan at Southport until the end of the season.
Head Coach Michael Appleton said:
“James is fit again after an injury and needs to be playing games. With City doing so well it is a fantastic opportunity for him.
“Jonny has worked very hard on his fitness and earned a longer contract and now we need to see him in action on a regular basis as the next stage of his development.
“We wish them both the best of luck and will monitor their progress closely.”
