Collins leaves the U's by mutual consent
Midfielder Michael Collins has left Oxford United by mutual consent.
Michael, 29, made 42 appearances for the U’s after joining from Scunthorpe in the summer of 2014 as Michael Appleton’s first signing. However the former Huddersfield midfielder has not appeared for United’s first team this season and spent time on loan at York City in the first half of the season.
He leaves with our best wishes and Michael Appleton said:
“Micky is a good player and has done well for us, but football moves on and we are well covered in that position. We been very honest with each other all season and allowing him to move on now gives him the best possible chance of finding a new club.“
Michael said:
“I’ve enjoyed my time at Oxford and wish them all the best for this season and beyond. The fans deserve success. There’s a new challenge ahead for me and but I’d like to thank everyone for making me feel so at home during my time with the club.”
