Development side draw 1-1 at Bisham Abbey
The Oxford United Development side drew 1-1 in a friendly against the FAB Academy at Bisham Abbey this afternoon.
Patrick Hoban was on the mark for a young U’s side against the Bisham based Academy which offers a route for young footballers into the professional game.
Chris Allen told us:
“It was a great opportunity to give people game time, and credit to the Academy because they are young and energetic and were out to impress so it was a really good work out.
“I was a little critical of the application in our last game at Cardiff but today was much better in terms of attitude, especially in the second half when we played with terrific tempo, energy and purpose.
“We took the lead from a cross into the area which Patrick did really well with. He got in a shot which the keeper saved but Pat was very alert and got on the rebound to score and make it 1-0. We had plenty of other chances. James Roberts did well, went round the keeper and was tripped for a penalty but after picking himself up he couldn’t convert the penalty.
“We pretty much camped in their half in the second half but couldn’t put any of the chances away and we got caught out from a corner that swirled in the wind and caused us all sorts of problems and allowed them to make it 1-1.
“It’s not always about results in these games, you are looking for character and attitude sometimes and there was a definite improvement in that and plenty of positives to take away.”
