Franklin-Fraiture gets set for the new WSL2 season
Oxford United Women’s new-look squad has been further strengthened with the signing of another talented local footballer.
Ella Franklin-Fraiture, 18, is a highly-rated midfielder who has been with the club since she was ten. A hard-working, skilful player who enjoys taking people on Ella broke into the first team when just sixteen and made 19 appearances last season.
Manager Les Taylor said
“Ella is another product of our successful Youth Department, having progressed through the age groups to WSL 2 first team level.
“She made 19 appearances for the first team last season and has only just turned 18, so is a tremendous prospect for the future. She is an exciting midfield player who likes to create and get forward. Ella is a player who I think will be very important to the team for this coming season.”
Ella said
“I joined the Centre of Excellence at the age of 10 from Summertown Stars. For the first few years at the centre, I remember being one of the smallest. It wasn't until the second year of the u12s that I really stated to progress and won u12 player of the year.
“I went on the Kassam Stadium pitch at half time - I remember being so excited! I have only fond memories of being at the COE and it made me love football even more, something I didn't think was possible. I feel very grateful to have been given the opportunity to play with the first team at young age, which was my ultimate goal.
“Coming on against London Bees in the first WSL2 match in 2014 in front of a crowd is a memory that'll stay with me. I am therefore very happy to have been offered a contract for the coming 2016 season at Oxford United and can't wait to continue growing as both a team and a player”.
