U's bounce back with four-goal haul
Oxford United showed character and resilience as they put their recent troubles behind them with an emphatic 4-1 win at Exeter City. Two goals from Jordan Bowery, plus an Alex MacDonald header and Chey Dunkley's first for the club, effectively ended the game as a contest after an hour, with Exeter grabbing a late consolation goal.
"To get ourselves four up after an hour, you can't really ask any more," Michael Appleton told Yellow Player HD afterwards.
"We had a couple of good opportunities early on and then got the goal from a set piece, which was good.
"The delivery from set pieces was very good, the timing of the runs was very good and obviously the execution was very good.
"It was very annoying that they scored but I've been in that position as a player when you're three or four up after an hour and it is difficult to continue doing the things that got you into that position in the first place.
"To score four goals anywhere is fantastic but to score four away from home is a great achievement. After back-to-back defeats we responded in the right way."
