Loan star Jonjoe stays longer with the U's
Oxford United have today extended the youth loan of Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny for a further month.
Kenny, 18, has made seven starts at right-back for the U’s since first joining on loan and this morning completed the paperwork for a longer stay with the U’s.
“I had no hesitation at all” he told us. “I have been made to feel very welcome, the team play good football and it has been a fantastic experience.
“Obviously the club is chasing promotion and in my first game we got through to Wembley as well. I have loved being here and am looking forward to playing in some big games over the next month or so.”
An England youth international, Kenny has captained the Everton under 21 side and enjoyed a seven game loan spell at Wigan Athletic earlier in the season.
Head Coach Michael Appleton was pleased to have him involved for at least one month longer.
“He has done really well. He has had to adapt and get used to playing three games in a week all the time but that is what he is here for; to learn and to experience big matches and what it takes to play competitive games back to back.
“He has fitted in with the squad, he is enjoying his football, and we are more than happy to have him here for longer.”
