Jake Wright Nominated for Sky Bet Player of the Month

Oxford United captain makes the top four

Oxford United captain Jake Wright is among the nominations for the January Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month.

Captain Jake was in his usual imposing form throughout January to catch the eye of the judges. The four players in the frame are:

Jake Wright (Oxford United) – central defender
Outstanding as Oxford kept pace at the top of Sky Bet League 2. Allied his captaincy role to an ability to read the game and bring the ball out of defence. Played a vital part in the 1-0 win at promotion rivals Portsmouth.

Chris Clements (Mansfield Town) – midfielder
A technical ball player with a fine range of passing from deep, the 25-year-old added goals to his playmaking skills in January. His three goals included beautifully flighted unstoppable free-kicks against Accrington Stanley and Stevenage.

Ricky Holmes (Northampton Town) - winger
His recent return from injury has been a welcome boost at Sixfields. Skilful, quick and always prepared to run at defenders, he provided two assists in the month as well as two goals, including a stunning volleyed winner at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Shaun Miller (Morecambe) – striker
The mobile forward scored in four of his five games in January, including a clever finish for the winner against Yeovil Town and a long-range effort against Newport County. His hold-up play and willingness to drag defenders out wide also impressed.

ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 5 2016

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
