U's to mark end of year with minute's silence
Oxford United will be holding a minute’s silence before kick off against Walsall on New Year’s Eve, December 31st, out of respect for supporters who have passed away in 2016.
The minute silence will take place for the supporters Oxford United have lost from the start of this season through to the New Year. Alongside this, we will host another minute’s silence at the start of the 2017/2018 season in August to remember those lost from New Year to August.
If you have lost someone close to you this year, contact us with an age, name and any relevant details, so we can mention them in the programme for that match. Their names will also be on the scoreboard during the minute’s silence.
Peter Rhoades-Brown told us
“We want to end the year with a fitting way of remembering the loyalty and dedication of supporters that are no longer with us. It’s not always possible to have a minute’s silence before every match so this is a new way to pay our respects at the start of the season and end of the year.”
For the Walsall game, we ask for these details before the Tuesday, December 20.
