New text system available to help stamp out bad behaviour
This Sunday sees Oxford United nominated for the Football League Family Club of the Year award, one of just six clubs on the final shortlist for this prestigious award. The U’s pride themselves on providing a warm welcome to fans of all ages, and from Saturday we will be introducing a new system designed to help us identify and eradicate extreme incidents, as well as aiming to keep Olly’s Family Stand a family friendly area where parents can bring their children to football and be confident they will not hear or see anything they shouldn’t.
If you are at the game and hear someone using racist, homophobic, sexist or any other form of discriminatory language then all you need to do is text the approximate location (stand, block and seat number), with a brief description, to:
07342 274 742
All texts are anonymous as Supporter Liaison Officer Sarah Gooding said:
“The fans have been brilliant all season but we want to ensure that everyone can enjoy the game in the best possible atmosphere.
“Sometimes passions run high and it’s not always easy to confront people face to face. We would rather receive a quick text, which we will treat as anonymous, and then one of our trained staff can deal with the incident appropriately.
“The next time the person behind you is continually swearing and ruining the day for families around you, text us on 07342 274742 and we will make sure it stops.”
The service starts on Saturday when Oxford United welcome Luton Town to the Kassam Stadium. Let your thumb point the finger and help us make a great day even better.
