Ron Atkinson, Graham Atkinson, Geoff Denial, Ken Skeen guests of honour on Tuesday
This Tuesday United take on Plymouth Argyle in a big fixture for both clubs and we have no fewer than four guests of honour to help make the game a real occasion.Ron Atkinson needs no introduction to Oxford fans. He captained the club from the Southern League to the Second Division (equivalent to the Championship in today's money) and made over 560 appearances in his 12 years at the Manor before going on to manage Manchester United, among other teams. Speaking in the programme for Tuesday evening's match, Ron said: "The funny thing is, when Rosie asked me to come along I picked a night match just so we could play golf in the day, but now it’s turned out to be a really big game for both clubs. Hopefully there’ll be a big crowd." Read the rest of this fascinating and revealing interview in the Plymouth programme.
Joining Ron is his brother Graham, who remains the club's all-time leading scorer, his 107 goals just topping James Constable's haul of 106. Also here will be Geoff Denial, who played 199 games for the club between 1956 and 1962, and Ken Skeen, who made almost 250 appearances over seven seasons from 1967. They will all be presented to the lounges before the game and to the crowd at half time.
Tickets are still available for this huge match from the ticket office, on 01865 337533 or 24/7 online at www.oufctickets.co.uk, so come along and join us and cheer the team on.
