Appleton Ready For Bees Test

Head Coach warns U's of Bees' Sting

Oxford United look to extend their excellent start to the season when they welcome Barnet to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday. The U’s beat table-toppers Plymouth Argyle in a fine game on Tuesday and now come up against newly-promoted Barnet who will represent just as tough a test according to United Head Coach Michael Appleton

“The lads were obviously massively up for the game on Tuesday with them being top of the league and there to be shot at” he told Yellow Player HD. “ I thought the performance was outstanding.”

“We were a little unfortunate only to score the once, but I think going forwards to Saturday it is going to be a completely different game.

“We are going to have to deal with a very direct style of play, Barnet will be fired up and they will love the fact they are coming to the Kassam where we haven’t lost this season; they are going to want to put that right, but we are proud people and want to keep that run going.“

United are just two points off top spot and a positive result against Martin Allen’s Barnet side would stretch the unbeaten run to eight games. However, Michael’s message was a familiar one.

“We’re not getting carried away with ourselves” he said.”That’s because it’s only a third of the way into our season, and we know that we are going to come up against a tough Barnet side on Saturday so we have to be mentally and physically prepared for the game.

“We will make sure we are right, we will be ready for the challenge and it’s a game we are looking forward to.”
