Wright Remains A Doubt For FA Cup Clash

Early Team News ahead of Sunday's big match

Skipper Jake Wright remains a doubt as Oxford United prepare for their Emirates FA Cup first round tie at Braintree on Sunday.

The United captain missed the win at Stevenage last weekend after suffering a back spasm during the home game against Barnet. Having undergone intensive treatment for the last ten days he told Yellow Player HD that the injury is healing well:

“I haven’t missed too many games over the last few years, touch wood” he said. “I suffered the same thing about three years ago and came back quite quickly from that so I’m hoping to be back for Sunday, or for the game at Dagenham next week if not.”

United visit the Iron for their first ever visit to the Amlin Stadium, and Jake has warned that nobody will go there expecting an easy game.

“Not at all. They are going really well in their league. I’ve spoken to a couple of players who were there before and they have said what a good side they are and how hard it can be to play against them. The crowd is right on top of you, they are going to be looking to cause an upset and we fully expect a tough match.

“We will make sure we do our homework and prepare properly as always. It’s the FA Cup so anything can happen but I love these sort of games and would love to be involved if I can.”
