All the reaction as United leave it late at the Daggers
Oxford United moved to within two points of leaders Plymouth with a 1-0 win at Dagenham on Saturday. Kemar Roofe’s stunning free kick with five minutes to go gave Michael Appleton’s side all three points and the United Head Coach was pleased to see his top scorer back on the score sheet
"I’m delighted he got his goal because he’s been wanting one for a couple of games” Michael told Yellow Player HD. ”He came ever so close, the keeper made a fantastic save, he’s hit the bar and then with the free kick from the moment it’s left his foot Faz, sat next to me, has said ‘Goal’!
“To score as late on as we did knocked the stuffing out of Dagenham a little bit, but I said before that they have the players to get out of the situation they are in provided they all stick together, and we knew before the game that it would be decided by fine margins.”
United now move on to face Newport County at home on Tuesday night.
“We just have to make sure we stay professional” Michael warned. “To be fair to them the players have been good at that, getting a result, staying focussed and moving on to the next one.”
