U's keep up the pressure on the leaders with another home win
Oxford United's fine form continued with a 1-0 win at home to Cambridge on Saturday that kept the U’s in second place in Sky Bet League 2. A Ryan Taylor goal earned United all three points at the Kassam Stadium and Head Coach Michael Appleton told Yellow Player HD that he felt his side were full value for their win.
“I’d have been a little bit disappointed not to have won that game because I thought we created the better chances” he said. “But at 1-0 the game is never safe and it made it a nervous last five minutes.
“It was a bit of a grind and we maybe weren’t as fluid as we have been in recent weeks and months. We knew it would be that way with Cambridge under a new manager after Shaun Derry took over, and we knew they would get the ball in to the front men very quickly because they have a lot of power and strength, But we dealt with that and kept a clean sheet.
“It was a good three points and now we move on to Tuesday and the FA Cup”
