Demi shortlisted for top award
Oxford United Women's fantastic progress has been recognised with goalkeeper Demi Lambourne being nominated for Sportswoman of the Year at the prestigious Oxfordshire Sports Awards.Demi, 19, joined Oxford's Centre of Excellence at Under 15 level after a previous spell with Reading. She spent three years at the United CoE before progressing into the first team and becoming Oxford's number one.
Demi's form in WSL 2 has seen her receive international call ups for the England under 19 squad where she has flourished.
She told us:
"It is a fantastic thing for Oxford United Women to receive this nomination. We've done really well as a team and I am shocked and really proud to have been put forward. It's recognition for all the hard work that the coaches, staff and players put in, and another great reward for everyone at the club."
The Oxfordshire Sports Awards is an annual event hosted by the Oxfordshire Sport and Physical Activity, supported by Official Broadcast Partner, BBC Oxford and Official Media Partner, the Oxford Mail.
2015 will mark the 10th Awards Ceremony and is seen as the flagship event of Oxfordshire Sport and Physical Activity.
The Awards incorporate nominations from across Oxfordshire, raising the profile of sport and physical activity and creating a unified celebration of sporting excellence. The Oxfordshire Sports Awards have grown in popularity, stature and success over the years and on Friday 27th November 2015 this year's Awards will take place at the Kassam Stadium.
