New defender set for WSL debut v Watford
Oxford United Women are pleased to announce the signing of Estonian international centre back Hannaliis Jaadla.
With a wealth of international experience behind her, as well as successful spells at Tottenham Hotspur and in the Estonian top flight, the 28-year-old defender will be available for tomorrow evening's FA Women's Super League 2 opener at home to Watford.
Having already settled well in Oxford, Jaadla is now looking forward to her first taste of the WSL. She said: “The level here is very good and I'm really looking forward to the season, to see the level of the Women's Super League 2. I really don't know much about it, so I want to experience it. It will be interesting to see and there's an interesting season ahead.
“I would say that in Estonia, or in different places in Europe, you have more time on the ball when you're a centre back. It's a high-pressing game here all the time, so it's something to get used to.
“It's been fun so far and it's only getting better. I'm really looking forward to the season now.”
Manager Les Taylor added: “Hanna is an international player and she brings a great deal of top-level experience to the side. We have a very young side, they're brave and they have no fear, but I think everyone will benefit from having a player like Hanna around, who has seen both good and bad times in her career and can bring the benefit of those experiences to the side.
“She provides us some natural cover in central defence and just adds some extra quality to the side, which can only improve us.”
