Loan signing for the U's as three go out
Oxford United have completed the signing of Peterborough United striker Kyle Vassell on loan until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old forward was part of the youth set up at Norwich and then Brentford before dropping down to play for Sutton United and Chelmsford City. He caught the eye of a number of league clubs when he scored 16 goals in 16 games for Bishop’s Stortford in the Conference South. That led to a move to Peterborough in November 2013. Kyle started this season with five goals in eight games and Head Coach Michael Appleton is looking forward to having him involved for the first time when United welcome Carlisle United to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday
“We’re delighted to have Kyle join us. He has scored goals wherever he has been and with some big games coming up we feel he will give us a little extra impetus and that bit more competition for the remaining matches.”
Kyle’s arrival means that Armand Gnanduillet’s loan at the Kassam Stadium ends, while Giorgio Rasulo has also returned to his parent club, MK Dons.
“They are good lads and we wish them well for the future” Michael said. “Neither of them has been able to get much game time so it’s fair on all parties if they return to their clubs.”
Meanwhile midfielder Jeremy Balmy has joined Oxford City on a month’s loan. The French playmaker is now fully fit and will join Justin Merritt’s City side as they look to maintain their play-off push.
“Jeremy needs time on the pitch so this works well for us” Michael said. “He will train with us in the week and we can monitor his progress in matches at City so that works well for all concerned.”
