Sign up for the Footgolf charity day
Ever wanted to know what would happen if you combine football with golf? Well here's your chance to find out. Oxford United are pleased to be supporting a FOOTGOLF Day courtesy of Hinksey Heights Golf Club on Saturday 4th April 2015 to officially open their new Footgolf course and to raise money for SSNAP.
SSNAP (Support for the Sick Newborn and their Parents) provides specialist resources and support for sick and premature babies and their parents at the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Footgolf is a new sport in which you play golf by kicking a football around a specially designed course, complete with oversized greens and holes.
A maximum of 36 teams of four can play on the day and competition is sure to be strong, with Oxford legends and staff participating and the players hoping to come along and give it a go once training has finished that day.
Entry is £40 adults per person, £20 OAPs/Under 16s (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult). As well as playing, you receive a free football to keep after the day and a free raffle ticket. Food and drink will be available and there will be fun for all the family with a speed gun, penalty shoot-out, bouncy castle and try your luck at nearest the hole. If you don't want to take part in the event then come along and try it out for yourself, this sport is growing and is great fun for all the family as it caters for ages from four to 90.
Dress code is smart polo shirts, smart shorts and socks, golf shoes with moulded studs (trainers, astroturf shoes and football boots with blades are allowed but strictly NO football studs or golf spikes).
Organiser Darrell Fisher, United’s official away photographer and club person of the year, told us :
“I have experienced SSNAPs amazing help many years ago when my son was born prematurely. He gets married the day after the event and this is a nice way to say thank you for the help and support we got all those years ago. More recently a good friend of mine, Stephen Wixey, and Oxford United midfielder Michael Collins have both seen their families spend a lot of time there. These times are difficult but with the help of SSNAP they are made a lot easier.
“With fans’ help and support we can say a huge thank you for what have been emotional times for families in the past and hopefully help families in the future. We have some very special guests who will be participating on the day and we hope as many people as possible get involved.”
For an entry form or more information please email Darrell Fisher at dazoufc@gmail.com or text 07881 900647. All corporate sponsorship help with this event would also be very much appreciated.
