Charity cricket match at Chipping Norton for Alzheimer's Society and Get Kids Going
Former Oxford United professional footballer Phill Heath and his brother-in-law Greg Thorley - both local Chipping Norton residents - ran The Virgin London Marathon this April for their respective charities: The Alzheimer’s Society and Get Kids Going, raising in excess of £9000 so far.
On Sunday 5th July, Phill, Greg and Chipping Norton Cricket Club have teamed up with an Oxford United Legends team, including Micky Lewis (current first team coach), Andy Melville, Les Phillips, Peter Rhoades-Brown, Chris Allen and others to play a 20-over match, with all proceeds being split between the two charities.
Admission on the day is free and there will be a barbecue, bar and raffle prizes.
Play is due to commence at 1pm. Please come along and enjoy a fun family day and meet some of Oxford United’s former players and maybe pinch an autograph or two.
Chipping Norton CC will also offer the opportunity to have try out in the nets for youngsters and adults alike.
The event is sponsored by Smiths of Bletchington, Barclays Bank and many local businesses, including Cafe Le Raj, Robert John Hairdressing, The Old Mill House, The Co-op, Sole Therapies, and Bourton China & Cookware.
Feel free to bring a picnic, blankets and picnic chairs if you so wish.
