Striker looks to push on after first appearance for the U's
Striker Patrick Hoban will be hoping for a first start as United welcome Exeter City to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday in Sky Bet League 2.
Hoban made a good first impression as a second half substitute last week against Southend after gaining international clearance following his signing from Dundalk.
“It felt great to get on the pitch,” Patrick said “I didn’t think I’d get on that early, straight after half-time. It was great to play having been injured for a good while and I hadn’t played a game either in a long time, not since winning the league with Dundalk, so to get on the pitch was fantastic.
”That first 45 minutes went too quickly even though it wasn’t the result we all wanted but hopefully we’ll rectify that in the next game. I’m just looking forward to Saturday again and getting out on that pitch.”
Patrick has had to be patient after injuring an ankle in his very first training session but is now fully fit and raring to go.
“ The training is fine and all I’m working on now is my sharpness. I need to get sharp and when I do I can hopefully make a difference here. I don’t want to put pressure on myself but that’s how I feel and hopefully I can make that happen.”
