Early team news as United prepare to face Exeter City
Patrick Hoban and John Campbell are in contention to start on Saturday as United welcome Exeter City to the Kassam Stadium. With Will Hoskins rated as doubtful following a reaction to his recent groin injury, United's two new front men are set to battle it out for the striker role against the Grecians. James Roberts is back in training following his tight hamstring at Dagenham but this weekend probably comes too early for him.
Sam Long, who was taken off after scoring his first senior goal against Southend last Saturday, is fit to return and will be vying with Jon Meades for the right-back position, while head coach Michael Appleton has no other injury concerns.
"Exeter have a very experienced manager who has been there over a decade," Michael told Yellow Player, "and he has taken them on a good run.
"We know we have to start winning games and on Saturday we come up against a side who we had a very good game against at their place and it will be interesting to see how they cope with the loss of Matt Grimes.
"After last weekend everyone was very frustrated and down and we can't wait to get back on the pitch. We had a great conversation with the players on Monday morning to move forward."
