Trio looking ahead to the new season
Hannah Cox, Lindsay Pinker and Helen King have all signed up for Oxford United Women’s forthcoming 2015 FA Women’s Super League 2 season. All three were important members of last season’s side and will again lend their talents to United’s campaign this time around.
Midfielder King will miss the early stages of the campaign as she is studying abroad, while goalkeeper Cox and midfielder Pinker have each signed new one-year deals.
Hannah Cox first joined the club in 2012 from Oxford City and quickly established herself as the number one choice between the posts, though her debut WSL season was disrupted by a lengthy spell out due to injury. Now fighting fit, she is eager to get underway again. She said: “I'm very happy to sign another year’s contract at Oxford. It's exciting to see the team progress and I can't wait to start the new season.”
Centre of Excellence product Lindsay Pinker first made her debut for the senior side in 2010 at the age of 16, going on to feature prominently in last season’s WSL 2 debut. She feels that experience will serve her and the rest of the side well in the coming season: “I am very pleased to have renewed my contract, and to be a part of Oxford United in the WSL 2 for another season. As a team we are now aware of what to expect from the league, and I feel every one of us is up for another challenge and ready to compete.”
Manager Les Taylor was pleased to secure three more key players as his squad for the 2015 season begins to take shape. He said: “I`m looking forward to working with them all.
“Lindsay is technically very talented. She’s come through the Girls’ Centre of Excellence and is another young player for the future. We are looking forward to seeing Lindsay establish herself more in the starting line-up this coming season.
“Hannah is a reliable goal keeper who when called upon will not let you down. It`s always good for competition to have more than one player in each position.
“Helen is a very versatile player and can play a variety of positions, so is extremely valuable to the squad. She finished off last season very well so we hope she will continue the good form for this coming campaign.”
