Early team news as United welcome Luton Town in Sky Bet League 2
There will be four new faces in the Oxford United squad for the home fans to see this Saturday as the U’s take on Luton Town at the Kassam Stadium in Sky Bet League 2 (3pm)
Left-back Joe Skarz and right-back Richard Brindley both made their debuts in the 2-0 win at Stevenage last weekend and stand by for home debuts against the high-flying Hatters. Forward Alex MacDonald is available for the first time after joining for an undisclosed fee from Burton Albion on Deadline Day while keeper Jamie Ashdown is expected to be on the bench following his arrival on Tuesday.
“We have had a good week in training” First Team Coach Micky Lewis told Yellow Player earlier today. “When new players come into the building it seems to give everybody a lift and they have been very professional.
“I thought the two lads last week did really well in the game at Stevenage and showed their experience. Richard is still only a young lad but has played quite a few games and Skarzy is that little bit more experienced and was very solid. Alex has come in this week, trained hard and looked really lively. Jamie coming in gives us two experienced goalkeepers who will push each other all the way.
“We are glad to have them all and it gives us a few options to choose from.”
