Darryl takes new role as Mark Ashton leaves the U's
Oxford United Football Club today announces that Darryl Eales, chairman and majority shareholder, is to take the role of the club's executive chairman.
As a result of this change, Mark Ashton, who has been CEO of OUFC since the summer of 2014, will leave the club.
Darryl said: "I'm very grateful for everything Mark has done in helping to improve the fortunes of the club. He leaves us in a much better state, both on and off the field, and he has played a significant part in this transformation. The reality is that, having relinquished a number of other business interests, I have both the time and desire to devote to running the club, and Mark understands that, in the new structure, we would be duplicating roles."
Mark said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Oxford, working with Darryl and our Head Coach, Michael Appleton. I wish them and all the staff here the best of luck for the rest of the season and beyond."
