Oxford United Bring in Tyrone Barnett

U's bring in striker on loan

Oxford United have completed the signing of striker Tyrone Barnett on a 93-day loan from Peterborough United.

Tyrone is a six-foot three-inch forward who made his name at Macclesfield Town before signing for Crawley Town ahead of their first season in the Football League. Fourteen goals in 26 games attracted the attention of a host of clubs and in February 2012 he joined Peterborough, initially on loan before a £1.1 million permanent deal.  He has scored 11 times in 38 league starts for the Posh, featuring as a substitute six times this season, and has had loan spells at Ipswich Town and Bristol City.

The 28-year-old striker completed a medical this afternoon and Head Coach Michael Appleton is likely to include him for the first time when United travel to Exeter City on Saturday.

“Tyrone is a proven goalscorer at this level,” Michael said. “He is a strong lad, has pace and is always going to cause defences problems. We are delighted that he is here and we are really looking forward to working with him.”
