Collins hopeful as United look ahead to the weekend
There was good news from the training ground today with Michael Collins’s injury not looking as serious as first feared. The influential midfielder hobbled off during the first half at Luton on Saturday after a painful blow to the calf but as he told us, he is hopeful that he will be fully fit in time to face Newport County at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
“It was an innocuous challenge really,” Michael told us. “I limped out of the tackle and thought nothing of it but when I looked down the leg was ballooning. The physio took a look and there was a cut. With the chance of internal bleeding it was the right thing to do to come off and get it looked at.
“It was one of those injuries you know you can’t play through but you also hope will be OK in a day or two.”
Michael has been undergoing intensive treatment but is confident that he will be back in training in time for Saturday’s big home game against Newport.
