Youth team home on Saturday, Women take on Villa on Sunday
The First Team may be away at Carlisle United on Saturday but if you are not travelling north with the Yellow Army you can still get your fix of Oxford United action this weekend. On Saturday morning Chris Allen’s exciting under 18s are at home to Exeter City in the Football League Youth Alliance.
Defeat against Newport last week leaves the under 18s keen to make amends as Chris told us:
“We had gone five games unbeaten and then played poorly last week. The lads have responded well and looked sharp in training and Saturday is a great chance for them to show a positive reaction.”
The game takes place at the training ground, Oxford Sports and Social Ground, on Roman Way (OX4 2RY) and kicks off at 11am. Admission is free.
Then on Sunday Les Taylor’s Women side welcome Aston Villa in the final game of their WSL 2 season.
Results have improved as the season has gone on and Les is looking for a win to end a highly encouraging debut season:
“We have done OK and this year has taught us so much” he said. “Villa are a good side but we want to finish the season with three more points and that bit of confidence to take into next year.”
Come along on Sunday afternoon to cheer on the women as they conclude their season. The game is at Northcourt Road, Abingdon OX14 1PL and tickets cost just £5 for adults and £2 for under 16s and over 65s.
