Women take on Villa on Sunday

United finish WSL season at home to Aston Villa on Sunday

Oxford United Women conclude their debut WSL season this Sunday (2pm) with a home game against Aston Villa Ladies.

After a shakey first half to the season, results have improved for United and they go into their last game looking to end the season on a high. Last time out the U's were narrowly beaten by top-of-the-league Sunderland with a display that drew plaudits from everyone that saw the match.

Manager Les Taylor told us: "The games have flown by since we kicked off against the London Bees back in April. It has been hard work but I have enjoyed every minute of it and I think the whole club has made massive strides this year.

"We have learned and improved with each week of training and every game we have played, and I am pleased for the girls that results in the second half of the season have picked up.

"Back in April I think we stepped out into a completely new level. Playing against the biggest names in women’s football was massive for us and it took a little while for everyone to realise that, provided we competed, focussed on our own game and believed in what we were doing, then we were a match for any of the teams we met."

Come along on Sunday afternoon to cheer on the women as they conclude their season. The game is at Northcourt Road, Abingdon OX14 1PL and tickets cost just £5 for adults and £2 for under 16s and over 65s.
