United's Women in action against Sunderland
Following on from last Sunday’s fantastic 2-1 win over Watford, United’s women are back in home action for one of two last games as they take on Sunderland on Sunday(Kick off 12pm). The Women are on a superb run of form after suffering only one defeat in five games and manager Les Taylor said:“We have two games left and the challenge is to keep going right to the end. There is no relegation in this league but nobody wants to finish bottom and we have given ourselves a little bit of daylight ahead of London Bees. It would be great to keep that gap and see if we can close the gap on one or two of the sides immediately above us as well.”
The ladies demonstrated strong character, and a will to win as they came back from a goal down to defeat Watford 2-1 thanks to goals from Lauren Allison and substitute Gemma Simmonds. As the season draws to a close Les Taylor noted the importance of carrying on good form into the next season:
“We want to finish as strongly as possible because I believe you take that momentum into the following season”.
Come along and see the promising ladies side in action for yourself. The match against Sunderland takes place at Abingdon United and kicks off at 12 noon this Sunday October 12th . Entry is £5 for adults and £2 for Under 18’s and over 65’s.
