Manor Memories

Send in your memories of our former home

The Yellow Army is still looking for fellow United fans to share their stories of the 'untold Manor' for a special new book.

Fans are being encouraged to email their favourite memories of United's spiritual home to appear in a book that will bring to life supporters unique stories of their days 'Up the Manor'.

Stories of the 'real unseen' Manor: tales from the terraces, the social club, the characters and the incidents that made it so special.

The intention for is the book to be by United fans, for United fans.

A number of fans have sent in an array of fantastic memories that have never been shared before in print - but the Yellow Army is keen to hear from many more to make the book a bumper read.

Greig Box Turnbull, of the Yellow Army, said: "We've received so many fantastic stories that have been a true pleasure to read and this is shaping up to be a must-read for United fans.

"I don't want to give too much away, but there are stories from the Osler Road roof blowing off in high winds, to an old boy knocking out a Chelsea fan out with a brolly, to fans proposing on the pitch.

"What comes across in every email is the genuine affection fellow Yellows hold for the Manor, so of the emails have transported me straight back to the Manor, many have made me laugh and one moved me to tears.

"But there must be many more fans out there with great stories to share and we're appealing for everyone to be a part of it."

All proceeds from the book will be ploughed into the Yellow Army's fundraising pot to support the Oxford United Youth and Community Trust and boost the match-day atmosphere.

The book will include chapters on London Road memories, songs and an array of old photographs.

You can send in your submission via info@yellowarmy.co.uk . Please include your name, age, where you're from, and as much detail as possible.
