Fleetwood winger joins The U's
Oxford United this afternoon completed the signing of Junior Brown on a one-year contract.
Junior is a left sided player who adds pace in attack but can also play as a left back. He began his career in the much admired youth set up at Crewe Alexandra before spells at Halifax Town and Northwich Victoria. His form attracted the attention of Fleetwood Town and he has been part of the Fleetwood side that won promotions from the Blue Square Premier and then League Two.
The 25-year-old spent part of last season on loan at Tranmere Rovers and U’s fans may remember him scoring at the Kassam Stadium for the Cod Army in February 2013.
Junior is now looking forward to joining up with the U’s for the first time:
“I have played against Oxford before and know it is a great ground and a good club” he said. “I have enjoyed my time at Fleetwood but it is time for a new challenge and having spoken to Michael Appleton I think there is something special happening at Oxford which I would love to be part of.”
United Head Coach Michael Appleton said:
“Junior is fast and direct and has an eye for goal. He is a player who I think will excite the fans and he will give us balance on that left hand side. He has had a pre-season and is fit and raring to go so he will go into the squad against Bournemouth on Saturday.”
