Early team news as Oxford United head for Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup
Oxford United are likely to take a look at one or two of the young guns as they take on Charlton Athletic at The Valley tomorrow night.
The Third Round FA Cup with Budweiser tie got the go-ahead after a pitch inspection earlier today and Manager Chris Wilder told us:
“I think it will be good to get the game played for both sides. It’s one we are really looking forward to against a decent Charlton side and we expect it to be a really exciting FA Cup tie.”
United are without the ineligible Nicky Wroe after a promising debut against Portsmouth but can include striker Dave Kitson after his two game suspension. However it is two of the younger players in the squad that Chris is looking to make their mark:
“It’s good to have Dave available again” he told Yellow Player “but we may take the opportunity to look at one or two things. Josh Ruffels has done well this season whenever he has played and has a mature head on his shoulders. He is very much in our thoughts as is Ty Marsh. Ty brings us something a little different and has been pushing for a chance so we will wait and see what the conditions are like, weigh up the options and then decide whether it is the right game to change things around a little bit.”
