Players on the way back for Oxford United
United should have a major boost as the season boils to an exciting finale, with no fewer than seven senior players back in contention.
Winger Sean Rigg was the first player to return after injury, appearing as a sub at Morecambe last week. Striker Dave Kitson, who missed that game with a slight hamstring problem, and defenders Michael Raynes and Jake Wright, are all in with an outside chance of playing at Rochdale on Saturday. Goalkeeper Max Crocombe is due to return to training in the next ten days while the return of long-term absentees Andy Whing and Jon Meades to training is now within touching distance.
Both Whing and Meades are due to join full training next week and could be available in the next two to three weeks. Whing has been troubled by a knee problem since October, while Meades has yet to play this season after injuring an ankle in pre-season against Coventry.
“We are really pleased with how we’ve done; we’d like to have won a few more games but I think we have only lost one in ten. We are really pleased with the teams we have put out and the young boys have done really well but it does bode well when you see those players come back to training,” said Mickey Lewis.
