Optimistic signs for tomorrow night's Sky Bet League 2 game
Following intensive work by ground staff at Newport over the weekend, including the implementation of temporary drainage, the pitch at Rodney Parade is in a far improved state than recent weeks. After consultation with the Football League and Oxford United a preliminary pitch inspection has been arranged for 1pm tomorrow (Tuesday February 18th) by the match referee, Ollie Langford.
Currently, the pitch is in a playable state and whilst the weather forecast for tomorrow is currently favourable, Newport County are mindful of today’s weather forecast, hence the pre-cautionary assessment at 1pm tomorrow.
Advanced tickets for the game are cheaper if purchased from the Oxford United ticket office before 2pm on Tuesday and there are still some places left on the London Road Club coaches which depart from the Kassam Stadium at 3.15pm.
