Under 18s to play at Man City's new Academy Stadium
All eyes switch from the FA Cup to the FA Youth Cup on Thursday as Chris Allen’s under 18s take on Manchester City in the third round.Having overcome Bristol City and Swindon Town, the youth team have earned the right to test themselves against Premier League opponents and will also be one of the first teams to play at City’s Academy Stadium, after the game was switched from its original venue at Hyde United.
The Academy Stadium is a brand new 7,000 seat facility designed to host City’s youth team games and, from next season, their women’s team.
Chris Allen told us:
“It’s going to be great experience for the lads to play at the new ground but wherever we play we just want to go there and give it our all. We have done very well to get through to this stage but we are not going to go there just to have a look around. We are going there to compete.
“We are in decent nick, we have been playing some decent stuff and it’s a game we are all looking forward to.”
The game kicks off at 7pm. Follow it with OUFClive on Twitter with a report right here at the final whistle.
