United youth team players join Puritans on work experience
Two of United’s young players will get the chance to gain valuable experience in senior football, with AJ George and Lewis Hayden having joined Banbury United on a work-experience basis.
The duo will train with the Puritans as well as continuing to train with Chris Allen’s youth side. They will be part of the Banbury first-team squad, while also being available to the United youth team, making them eligible to play against Manchester City in the FA Youth Cup later this month.
It is a similar deal to the one that currently sees Freddie Grant playing for Farnborough in the Conference South.
“It’s good for all three of them,” Youth Team Coach Chris Allen told us. “They have done really well for us and now get to test themselves in regular first-team football in senior leagues. Those are very competitive matches and they are going to learn a lot by playing in them.”
Meanwhile, Josh Shama and Aidan Hawtin are back with the U’s after their loans at Banbury United ended on Saturday.
