Fans get set for the big kick-off at the Kassam Stadium
The Yellow Army, backed by Oxford United, today encouraged fellow fans to get behind the big launch of Yellow Noise on Saturday.Following talks between the club and the Yellow Army the new singing section, located in the heart of the East Stand, will be opened for United's curtain raiser against Burton Albion. It will enable like-minded fans to join forces to generate songs.
Combined with the Football League's Wall of Colour campaign for the opening game, Saturday promises to provide a hair raising welcome for Oxford United.
Joe Nicholls, of the Yellow Army, said: "The club have listened to fans and worked with fans to make this happen.
"Now it's up to us the fans to make it a success. We've got some big displays planned for Saturday and the atmosphere should be decent.
"Let's really go for it and show the new management just what Oxford United means to us by singing and shouting and really getting behind our club on Saturday and at every game this season.
"The singing section will help songs take hold, as the singers will be able to sit together. It's hoped this will spread and the entire East Stand will become the Yellow Noise and eventually the whole stadium."
It is hoped by introducing a permanent singing section that songs will grow and spread throughout the stand and stadium. Similar schemes have proved popular at other clubs, including Arsenal and Watford.
The Yellow Army encompasses United fans globally and focuses on improving the match-day atmosphere, raising money for the Youth and Community Trust and strengthening community ties. The Yellow Army have also launched a new fund raising product for the season - a bright yellow mug, which is £6 and will be on sale in the newly named supporters bar, the Manor Bar, on Saturday.
