United in Business – Business of the Week

Focus on Isinglass Consulting, our away shirt sponsors

As part of Oxford United’s new business club, United in Business, each member will have the opportunity to showcase their businesses to the United fans.  This week’s focus business takes a look at our change shirt sponsor – Isinglass Consulting.

Despite a missed opportunity to remain unbeaten in the Isinglass purple shirts last season, a 3-2 defeat at Newport County didn’t dampen the spirits of three creative men - Isinglass Consulting’s Paul Charles; OUFC Commercial Director, Tony Davison; and New Driveway Company’s Darren Field.  Paul recalls, “We asked ourselves, what do the business community want? It’s about creating an environment to come together and do business together as well as putting something back into the club and community. United in Business was born.” In a summer of rebuilding and restructuring at the club, the team behind United in Business immediately garnered strong interest at special pre-season events. The rapidly growing business club, which now has 43 members, includes a wide variety of businesses from across Oxfordshire and the UK.

Isinglass Consulting won the competition to sponsor last season’s purple shirts and then decided to renew its sponsorship for the current season. From Paul’s perspective, “…there are clear benefits from getting involved and backing Oxford United. Our experience so far has helped to grow awareness of Isinglass Consulting and to create a number of new business opportunities along the way.  In the process we have had great fun in passionately supporting the team, seeing first-hand the impressive foundations laid to help release the club’s huge potential. It’s a fantastic time to be involved at Oxford United and we’re optimistic that the club will progress on and off the pitch”.

Isinglass Consulting is a boutique firm based in Stonesfield, Oxfordshire, and specialises in helping businesses develop, manage and implement change projects on pensions, reward and administration matters. Isinglass Consulting was formed in 2007 by Steve Mingle and Paul Charles who between them have over 50 years’ combined industry experience in Pensions, Remuneration and HR Shared services and have held senior positions in major organisations. Why the name? Paul explains that, “Isinglass (pronounced ‘eyes-in-glass’) is a clarifying agent – it helps make things clear – a perfect label for what we consider to be one of our major and distinguishing strengths”.

Isinglass Consulting will be hosting a short workshop on auto-enrolment on Tuesday 16th September. For anyone who isn't aware, a new law means that every employer, no matter how large or small, must automatically enrol workers into a suitable workplace pension scheme. The workshop will kick off at 5pm and promises to bring a normally dry subject to life in good humour, providing valuable insights based on Isinglass Consulting’s experience of work already done with some of the UK's largest employers. If you are a business owner, Finance Director, HR Director or have responsibility for ensuring auto-enrolment compliance, then this is an ideal opportunity to discuss your questions and concerns. The workshop will be followed by an exclusive United in Business event and each attendee will receive a complimentary ticket to the Oxford United vs Accrington Stanley game.

Isinglass Consulting is offering a 25% discount off their standard consulting fees for advice on pensions and auto enrolment matters. This offer is available to all United in Business members and fans of Oxford United who own small or micro businesses.
