Youthful United draw 0-0 with AFC Bournemouth
A youthful United side drew 0-0 with AFC Bournemouth this afternoon in a friendly game played at the Oxford Sports and Social ground.
United took the opportunity to look at five or six trialists alongside some of their own promising youngsters.
In a game of few chances United had their moments in an evenly matched first half with Aidan Hawtin and AJ George looking very assured in midfield. Behind them Josh Ashby did very well in an unfamiliar centre-half role alongside the dominant Marvin Ekpiteta although keeper Josh Hill was called on to make two good sides before the break.
There was a different role for winger Sam Humphreys as he switched to a central striking role and United created openings in well contested second half although a draw was probably a fair result against a more experienced Bournemouth side.
Several more of the young U’s are expected to feature at Kidlington tonight in the semi-final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup. Full coverage and report to follow.
