Oxford United Women entertain London Bees in inaugural WSL 2 match
Oxford United Women enter a new era this evening as they welcome London Bees to the Northcourt, Abingdon, for their first match in the new WSL 2 (kick-off 7.45).Manager Les Taylor said “The ladies are absolutely as fit as you like, so they're raring and ready to go. It could be an even game and hopefully on the night it will be the best team that wins. Nobody can guarantee a result but they can guarantee a performance and if enough of them get their performances right then we'll have a good chance.”
Last season United's women's team won the South West Combination title and came to national attention with a storming run in the WFA Cup. Now they will be playing at a much higher standard, as Taylor recognises: "It's a massive challenge for us but one that we are relishing," he writes in this evening's programme. "It will not be easy. The standard is extremely high in this league. This season we are playing in a highly professional league with the BT Sport cameras and huge national interest."
United are also producing a fantastic 32-page programme for all home WSL games this season, priced at just £2 and stuffed full of great content.
Tickets are available on the gate for as little as £5 for adults and £2 for under-16s and over-65s. Gates are open from 6.45pm for a 7.45pm kick-off at Northcourt Road, the home of Abingdon United FC, OX14 1PL.
If you can't be there this evening Yellow Player will carry full match commentary and you can follow the game on Twitter with the Oxford United Women's account @oulfc.
