We round up Oxford United's fine win at Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth Verdict

United got back to winning ways with a fine 2-0 win at Plymouth on Saturday. Find out more about the game here:

“We played well and I am delighted for the fans who I thought were magnificent once again today.

"We needed to bounce back after a disappointing run of results and I thought we played some really good stuff. They were two well worked goals. Clarkey made two great saves, Dave Kitson and James Constable looked dangerous throughout and young Callum O'Dowda did great but I can't single any one player out because I thought everyone involved was excellent.

"Now we need everyone to get behind us on Friday against York."

The Opposition View

Plymouth Manager John Sheridan

“We have done alright, but doing just alright is no good to me. If I was on 58 points, and we have avoided relegation and we are away from what we have had for the last two or three years, I would be going out there on a high.

“The pitch is like Wembley. Why do we struggle with the ball?”

He said: “We are still in with a chance. Other results have gone our way but we can’t be performing like that and expecting to do anything. The first half performance was probably the worst we have played. The tempo of it and everything else was way below standards.”
