Kits in Contention

Striker back in training as Oxford United welcome Fleetwood Town in Sky Bet League 2

Dave Kitson is back in contention as Oxford United welcome Fleetwood Town to the Kassam Stadium this Saturday.

The vastly experienced striker has yet to feature under new boss Gary Waddock after a hamstring problem but has been back in training this week and could come back into the squad as Waddock takes charge at home for the first time.

“He has trained with the group this week “ Gary told Yellow Player. “At this stage of the season it is good to have players who know what it takes to get over the finishing line and both Dave Kitson and Tom Newey will be back in the squad on Saturday.“

It is the club’s Military Day and with special offers on advance tickets Gary is hoping the fans will turn up and get behind the team as they look to turn recent results around:

“I have been here in the opposition dug-out and seen how the crowd get behind their team and the way they can create a fantastic atmosphere. That is what we need at each of the last six league games now.

“I will be incredibly proud to be in charge of Oxford United when I come out of that tunnel. The players have been excellent in training this week and have done all I have asked of them and now it is time to get winning games again.”
