Kitson, Constable and Crocombe return for the U's
Dave Kitson returns from suspension as United welcome Southend to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday. Kitson missed the trip to Hartlepool last week after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Chesterfield.
James Constable is also back in contention for a place in the team after making an appearance from the bench at Victoria Park last weekend, despite chipping a bone in his foot just three weeks before. He’s been in training this week and is fit and ready to go ahead of the visit of the Shrimpers.
Also returning from injury this week is Max Crocombe. The young Kiwi goalkeeper has been sidelined in recent weeks with a shoulder injury but has now made a full recovery and with on-loan goalkeeper Shwan Jalal being recalled by Bournemouth, Crocombe looks set to return to the bench for United.
Captain Jake Wright and Jon Meades are still sidelined through injury, while Andy Whing serves the second match of his three-game suspension following his sending-off against Chesterfield.
Manager Chris Wilder told Yellow Player:
“It speaks volumes that James wanted to be involved last weekend and he will feature in some capacity again on Saturday. Dave Kitson’s a big player in every way for us and it’s a real boost for the team to have him available again.”
