Chris Wilder on Rovers defeat

Manager Chris Wilder was left frustrated by missed chances as United were beaten by a penalty at home to Bristol Rovers on Saturday. United had opportunities to get in front before John Joe O’Toole’s spot kick won the game for the Pirates and after the game Chris said:

“It was a missed opportunity, and we missed opportunities in front of goal as well.  We changed the shape just in the period before the goal and we had two chances where we have got to score.  Beano will be desperately disappointed that he didn’t get his hundredth and hundred and first goals today. Dave Kitson had an opportunity as well. They will be a touch disappointed that we haven’t got our noses in front.

“It wasn’t a free-flowing performance and I don’t think the conditions were great for either side but we still had the best opportunities. No matter what happens box to box it is what happens in both boxes that counts and we had a couple of great opportunities to nick us in front.

“I would still have been saying the same thing if we had won the game; it wasn’t a great performance but as we always say it is about the reaction. We have been pretty good when we have lost a game and been looking to get ourselves going again. That will happen right the way through the season with a lot of the teams at the top. I don’t see anybody running away with it but we remain in a good position after 15 games.”
