The Big Match Has Landed

The Big Match has landed

Oxford United today unveiled plans for The Big Match when they welcome Plymouth Argyle to the Kassam Stadium in Sky Bet League 2 on Boxing Day.

It is the first time United have had a home fixture on Boxing Day for four years and the club are hoping for a sell-out crowd as they maintain their promotion push.

Plans were unveiled in Bonn Square in the city centre this evening with The Big Match logo projected high above the streets of Oxford as players and mascot Olly the Ox looked on.

The match will help the Oxford Children’s Hospital, the club’s official partners and will also include the City Council who have invited a special Oxford United Choir to help with the Christmas Countdown in the centre of Oxford; striker James Constable, defenders Johnny Mullins and Sam Long and midfielder Scott Davies are among the first-team players who will be joining the choir along with members of the Ladies team and the youth team.

United fans can also take advantage of two Big Match Bonus Days. The first, on Tuesday 12th November, will see season ticket holders able to book tickets for the game for family and friends at 25 per cent off the usual price. The following day, Wednesday 13th, non-season ticket holders also have 24 hours to buy tickets at 25 per cent off. The whole of the North Stand will be open for this game as United look to break the attendance record at the ground.

The match itself will have a fantastic atmosphere: a Boxing Day ‘Big Lunch’ package is available at the stadium, while there will also be a spectacular firework show and over 5,000 yellow flags have been purchased to turn the ground into a sea of yellow and blue.

It promises to be the biggest Christmas party in Oxford and tickets are expected to sell fast when they go on sale from Tuesday
